M.T.H. Electric Trains is announcing a new series of HO locomotives, rolling stock and passenger cars that feature professionally weathered finishes by a master modeler with more than 30 years of modeling experience. The resulting finish ensures that these new Signature Series models will look right at home on any fully sceniced and weathered layout. All models will be airbrushed weathered, using special proprietary techniques designed to capture subtle natural processes that show details previously only obtainable using chalks and pinpoint washes. No two finishes will look exactly alike so that you may have numerous models of the same engine, each with its own unique finish. All models will be flat sealed to allow handling and use of smoke fluid. These unique offerings provide a level of customization never before offered by a major model railroad manufacturer and are an excellent solution for those who have either not had the confidence to attempt weathering techniques or simply don't have the time to do it themselves. Most importantly, these professionally weathered models can withstand the rigors of operation while mimicking the real-life look needed to recreate a world class model railroad.

M.T.H.'s Lionel Corporation Tinplate American Flyer 4694 Steam Passenger Sets will begin shipping this August. In 1928, Lionel and American Flyer jointly purchased the bankrupt Ives Manufacturing Company. Flyer, in need of a steam engine for its Wide Gauge line - so-called because Lionel had already trade-marked the term "Standard Gauge" - almost immediately modified the Ives 1134 steam engine casting to fit its own motor and reintroduced it as the American Flyer Model 4694 steamer. Flyer's 1929 catalog writers, of course, took full credit for this "new" die-cast engine: "The 15" long locomotive and the realistic 10" tender follow exactly every element of design, construction and finish found in the real locomotive." The following year, the former Ives engine was cataloged with a new Vanderbilt tender and appeared at the head of several sets, among them The Warrior, carried over from the 1929 catalog, and a new, less expensive set called The Iron Monarch. Appearing for the first time in the M.T.H. Lionel Corporation Tinplate product line, this awesome recreation of the 4694 & matching passenger cars is sure to be a stunning sight on any standard gauge layout.

M.T.H. Electric Trains has completed development of an NMRA DCC Compliant board and will begin installing that board into the company's HO SD70ACe and SD70M-2 models in each of the paint schemes previously offered with M.T.H.'s Proto-Sound 3.0 digital sound system. These engines are DCC ready.
