Gunderson MAXI-IV Double Stack Car
The Maxi-IV car is the mainstay of the U.S. domestic double-stack car fleet. Providing an optimum balance between tare weight and capacity, the Gunderson MAXI-IV is a 3-unit articulated double-stack car that can handle containers from 20-foot to 53-foot long in the well and containers 40-foot to 57-foot in the top, or double-stacked, position.
This will be a brand new release of Kato's HO scale MAXI-IV well car set with two new paint schemes - AOK and Pacer Stacktrain. These well cars will make a perfect match with the upcoming GE AC4400CW and EMD SD90/43MAC locomotives, releasing from Kato USA this upcoming March, and will look great in a consist with Kato USA's already-announced re-release of the BNSF and TTX versions of this car coming in December!
Provides stable operation with or without container loads due to Kato's new innovative heavier material steel compound plastic used for the construction of the well car.
Steel Compound Plastic-Metal wells allow for the use of HO 53' Magnetic Intermodal Containers (sold separately), holding the containers safe and secure.
Easy to combine and separate, each three-unit articulated well will link effortlessly together out of the box, but can be disassembled just as easily for transportation or storage.

In March of 2011, the Kyushu Shinkansen route was extended from its original layout to go all the way from Kagoshima-Chuo to Hakata (in order to allow it to join with JR West's
Shinkansen line). Accompanying this extension, the existing 800 series Shinkansen was modified as well to accommodate its longer journey. The Kato model, likewise, has been
modified to accurately represent these changes, with modifications such as window glass arrangement, new "Sakura & Tsubame" lettering, and a new logo with "Around the Kyushu".
This set has been designed to represent the modern 800 Series Shinkansen's appearance and comes in a collector's bookcase with six prototypical electric train cars. A perfect
running companion to the 10-590 Series 787 Kyushu Local Express "Around the Kyushu", which is also available. All passenger cars can be lit with Kato's optional 11-209 or 11-210

Built in 1948, the 4-6-4 C62 Steam Locomotive is one of the most popular passenger steam locomotives in Japan.
When it was designed, the C62 was built around the existing D52 freight boiler, whose large size required equally
large drivers. As a result, the C62 was the fastest and most powerful high-speed passenger steam locomotive of its
day. It was used for the famous express trains "Tsubame" (Swallow) and "Hato" (Pigeon), which it pulled on the
Japanese mainline between Tokyo and Osaka until 1956 - this service granting C62 #2 its signature Swallow
emblems which it wears on its smoke deflectors. After the retiring from the main line, C62 #2 was used in the
northern Japanese island of Hokkaido until early 1970's, where its glorious history as a high speed passenger
locomotive make it a popular sight, and eventually granted it a place of honor at the railroad museum in Kyoto.

The Series 787 Electric Train was built in 1992 as an express train, named "Tsubame" (Swallow), in the
westernmost Japanese island of Kyushu. Designer-built, the 787 featured not only a unique outer appearance, but
also a luxurious interior, complete with high grade coach accommodations and a buffet. For many years the 787 was
the symbolic train of Kyushu, though it has recently been replaced by a new, 2nd generation "Tsubame" bullet train.
Today, the 787 is used for the local express trains supporting the new bullet train; however, it still maintains its
service area in Kyushu, giving it the nickname "Around the Kyushu".

Gunderson MAXI-IV Double Stack Car
Intermodal container service is one of the most popular types of freight service on rails today. The Gunderson MAXI-IV double-stack car is the mainstay of the U.S. domestic double-stack car fleet. Providing an optimum balance between tare weight and capacity, the Gunderson MAXI-IV is a 3-unit articulated double-stack car that can handle containers from 20-foot to 53-foot long in the well and containers 40-foot to 57-foot in the top, or double-stacked, position.
Just like the real thing, Kato's HO Scale MAXI-IV Double Stack Well car uses a metal frame and smooth rolling metal wheels to give the cars weight for flawless tracking, even when the cars are running empty. With Kato's magnetic 53' Intermodal containers, however, there's no need to run the cars empty as each two pack includes a pair of crisply molded magnetic containers that grip both the steel-plastic compound well and each other tightly for stable operation without the need for glue or adhesives!

for the insertion of Station platforms - or for a third parallel track between the rails, should a modeler desire it.
This new set will come in Japanese language packaging but can be easily integrated into existing layouts thanks to
the simple and user friendly design.

N-scale GE P42 "Genesis" - Amtrak 40th Anniversary Scheme
Join Kato in celebrating Amtrak's 40th Anniversary with an N scale model of one of Amtrak's own tribute
locomotives - the GE P42 "Genesis" #145, painted in a special Phase III Heritage scheme as part of
Amtrak's own birthday celebration. The sharply painted Phase III Stripes down the side of the locomotive
are adorned with the dates of Amtrak's "birth" (1971) and this year, while the locomotives use the
Amtrak logo that would have been in use during the Phase III era.
This modern locomotive, despite its vintage-styled paint, is a perfect accompaniment for Kato's available
Phase IVb Superliner cars and Phase IV and VI Amfleet and Viewliner releases (still available from Kato
USA and your distributor), and is a must for anyone modeling Amtrak or modern passenger equipment.
It's also perfect for collectors - a snapshot of Amtrak's history preserved in N scale form!

"Starter Series" MP36PH and Gallery Bi-Levels Cars
The Motive Power International MP36PH is used by a number of cities across the country for commuter service, their often distinctive and colorful paint schemes serving to make these locomotives the "figureheads" for local commuter service.
The modern Nippon Sharyo-built Gallery Bi-Level is based off of the same concept as the original Santa Fe "El Capitan" Bi-level design concept, whose success went on to inspire such double decker cars as Amtrak's Superliners and the Bombardier Bi-Level car which is also used in commuter service. Today, gallery Bi-Level cars such as those used by the Chicago Metra commuter service can be seen operating in several states across the United States, such as Virginia and California.

GE C30-7
Previously manufactured in 1994, the N-scale C30-7 from Kato is making a comeback with an new DCC friendly chassis; an excellent update for any modeler of older classic diesels,
whether you use DCC or not! The C30-7 is a classic GE diesel, produced in the mid 70's/early 80's as a follow-up to the popular U30C and was put into use by railroads alongside
the SD45, both locomotive seeing production quantities in excess of one thousand units, making the two series of locomotives some of the most common to see on the rails during
this era. Kato will be re-introducing the GE C30-7 this July, which will be sharing the same DCC-friendly mechanism as the U30C locomotive, making them perfect running partners
to run behind the N-scale mixed freight car sets.

EMD SD70ACe
Kato re-introduces the sold-out N-scale EMD SD70ACe with an all-new paint scheme and new road numbers for several existing ones! Kansas City Southern's "Southern Belle" heritage
scheme is striking in appearance with its bold, contrasting colors, making it a great addition to modeler's existing SD70ACe rosters. In addition, new numbers for UP, BNSF, and
CSX SD70ACe's ensure that there will be a locomotive for modelers in both the east and west, while re-stocks of the popular George Bush 4141 and UP/DRGW Heritage Scheme SD70ACe
locomotives mean that those who missed these popular locomotives the first time around will finally have a chance to take these paint schemes home.

GG1
Kato is announcing new releases of the GG1. The GG1, one of the PRR's most famous and recognizable locomotives, is also one of the most curiously designed. Technically two
locomotives under one shell (a "G" class locomotive is a 4-6-0 by PRR specification, therefore the GG1 was two "G" locomotives in a 4-6-0:0-6-4 arrangement). This added up to a
4.6k horsepower locomotive that was staggeringly powerful, even by today's standards. Designed in the 20's, built in 30's, and not retired until the 80's, the GG1 had an
incredible life-span (even when they were cut in two and run as GG-1/2s) and survives today as a testament to its time in both its unique Loewy-design and overwhelming performance.
Amtrak and Penn Central: Thanks to the long life and usefulness of the GG1, many outlived the PRR, finding themselves in Penn Central, and later in their life, Amtrak paint.
These locomotives were used in everything from freight service to pulling Amtrak Passenger trains.
Model Railroader magazine has put up an excellent video driveby/preview of the Broadway Limited and GG1,
viewable here.
The models feature:
PRR Units are designed to accompany the Kato Broadway Limited
Blackened metal Pantographs
Able to go through an 249mm (9-3/4") radius S-Curve
Shock absorber construction gives even traction and performance, even on the roughest track
Powerful mechanism able to pull a full 15 car Broadway Ltd. Consist up a 4% grade
Illuminated + Directional Class lights, headlight, and number boards

EMD F40PH
The EMD F40PH is synonymous with the Amtrak era of American passenger trains. Although it has been retired from Amtrak service, it operated for over 20 years. It continues to be the motive power for commuter railroads all over the United States. Over 400 F40PH locomotives have been manufactured by EMD in various configurations.
To support passenger service, the F40PH is equipped with a secondary electrical generator referred to as the head end generator (or HEP, for Head End Power). The need for constant constant frequency power means that these HEP units are constantly running at 900rpm, resulting in the nickname "Screamers" for the units due to the sound.
The models feature:
All locomotives are equipped with body mounted Kato magnetic knuckle couplers.
Locomotives feature directional Golden White LED headlights and illuminated pre-printed number boards.
Locomotives are equipped with shock absorber construction for smooth and prototypical motion on the track.
Locomotives have a powerful five pole motor with all wheel electrical pickup and blackened wheels.
Additional alternate snow plow piece included for tight radius operation.
Designed to compliment the Amtrak Superliner Passenger Car Sets.
Drop in DCC compatible with the Train Control Systems K0D8-C and Digitrax DN163K0D.

Due to arrive before the end of the year, the Kato GS-4. The GS-4 runs on eight massive 80" drivers, 300lbs psi boiler pressure, and puts out a roaring 5,500 horsepower at 55mph,
with a maximum speed of 110 mph. The large drivers gave the locomotive a high top speed; the telling mark of a steam engine built for passenger service. The GS-4 was built for
the Southern Pacific Railroad by the Lima Locomotive Works and delivered in the early 1940's for the SP's premier passenger trains, finding its way to the Daylight series of
name trains. One of the more unique specifications for the GS-4 by the SP was its Mars light, a necessity with the large amount of grade crossings and fog present on the West
Coast. The Mars light, like ditch lights on modern locomotives, was utilized as a warning for grade crossings that a high speed train was approaching, its shifting light patterns
serving as an eye catcher in foggy conditions.
Designed to accompany the Kato Southern Pacific "Morning Daylight" Passenger Train sets, able to pull all 18 cars without assistance
Drivers are operated by functional side rods for smooth performance
Electrical pickup from both driver and tender for constant electrical connection
Directional, operating (simulated) Mars light
Directional headlight
Illuminated number boards

Fast on the heels of the recent N SD45 Revival, Kato announces a new production of refitted, re-tooled, and ready to run N-scale U30C (U23C in the case of the Santa Fe)
locomotives! Introduced by GE as a competitor to the EMD SD40 and SD40-2, the U23C and U30C locomotive chassis' were one of GE's earliest locomotive successes. Nicknamed
"U-Boats", these units were used in multiple services, pulling coal trains, general freight, and even as a test-power unit for the Department of Transportation's subway
car experiments in Colorado. One BN unit was repainted for the 1776 US Bicentennial Celebration, which is also being offered by Kato USA! Models are re-tooled and DCC-friendly.

Kato announces an exclusive N-scale Boston & Maine RDC-1 with DCC and sound. The Boston & Maine was the largest single purchaser of Budd Rail Diesel Cars, putting them into
service on nearly all of their passenger lines to replace aging wooden cars and steam locomotives in the late 50's. By 1959, all passenger service, with the exception of some
through service, on the Boston and Maine lines was handled by their fleet of RDCs. The B&M's fleet of RDC's (more than 70 in total) wore the B&M's distinctive "Minuteman" logo
between the years of 1955 and 1957. After 1957, the RDC's were updated with a more modern squared-off blue-and-white B&M logo that was called the "McGinnis" scheme (after
Patrick McGinnis, the new president of the Boston & Maine, the man responsible for B&M's RDC armada).
Please note that these are not pre-built and are hand-built and customized with DCC, sound, and controllable interior lighting. They may require upwards of 2 to 3 months to
complete.
