Papa Ben's Train Place

Our doors opened on June 1st, 2002. We present a warm and comfortable shopping environment. The store has over 7,000 square feet of trains, and is well lit with spacious aisles. Products are logically grouped together by scale.


Our store has friendly and experienced staff that can help you from getting started in the great model railroading hobby to expert advice on scratchbuilding.


When you enter the store you will see a large mural painting of the Houston train station circa 1956. This was hand-painted by a local artist.

We carry a wide variety of products in stock. We can also order, reserve, and special order any model railroad related product.


As you can see from the photo above (upper right area), we also carry a large selection of magazines and books, both of model railroading and prototype.

Papa Ben's Train Place has many other facilities that you may not find in other stores. The photo on the right shows our reading area.


Yes, Papa Ben's actually maintains subscriptions to non-railroad related magazines such as People, Bird & Bloom, and others for members of your family that may not fully share your enthusiasm of model railroading.

Our newest addition is the Papa Ben's Kids room. A wonderful toyland for small children to be introduced to the hobby of model railroading.


This area is available upstairs (just go up the stairs to the right, inside the store's entrance).

Papa Ben's Train Place also offers space for consignment sales. Just go up the stairs.


You will find anything from locomotives to structures, kits to completed dioramas. Feel free to browse upstairs.

Also upstairs, you will find a conference room. This is a great space for the clinics we host from time to time.
