Papa Ben's Train Place is a model train hobbyist's dream in Houston, Texas. We maintain a large inventory of starter sets, engines, freight and passenger cars, track, electronics, building kits, scenery materials, detailing parts, paints, books, and magazines. Anything from Z to G!

Inside you find helpful, friendly staff, ready to assist you with whatever you need. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Our staff are active model railroaders who try to stay up with all the latest in the hobby. For practical advice, this is the place to be.

Directions

Our doors opened on June 1st, 2002 at our original location. Before Christmas 2008, we moved to our present location. We are directly across the street from Whole Foods Market on Bellaire. Unlike our previous location, we have ample parking here. Here's the map to our store. Click it to be able to zoom in or out as desired.

In-store Layout

As you enter the store there is a finished, working layout. It features dedicated tracks for N, HO, O (Lionel), and G scales.

We also host the Houston N'Crowd model railroad club, who have their permanent layout set up in our store. Click on the "Houston N'Crowd" link on the left to learn more and see some photos.

Books & Magazines

We stock all the latest (and some older) books and magazines. The book rack, along with a nice seating area, are found as you enter the store.

Lionel

We have a large inventory of Lionel, as can be seen in the next photo.

Consignment

This wooden case shows the larger items we have in stock, such as G-scale engines, Lionel equipment, structures, and larger consignment items.

Paints & Detail Parts

We stock a large amount of fresh model railroading paints, such as Floquil, Polly-Scale, ScaleCoat, etc. You will also find airbrushes, airbrush parts, primers, thinners, etc.

An entire wall in our store is dedicated to detailing parts in various scales, couplers, wheels, motors, and electronic parts and components.
